Add Non-Global Bans to Utan search
 

Had an idea. (again)

How about providing a category checkbox in Utan for Admin Accounts, as to whether they would like to share or allow viewing of their Utan bans.

If they allow viewing, then you could allow searches of the Utan database to be searched in two categories. Global Search and Non-Global Search.

This would allow many of us to figure out if someone is causing problems on other servers, as well as our own.

Isn't that what the Traq requests are for?

You would have the additional ability to search not only by GUID, but also by IP and Offenders Name.

Traq requests only show name and ip info - not non-global bans.

This Idea has me a bit worried. Searching non-global bans would not be a good idea. With the knowledge of guid spoofing, these guids which are not already globally banned would need to be protected. Allowing search of guids would that are not globally banned be a very large security hole, in my opinion.

Don't worry.

* GUID is safe. You can't spoof another player with just the GUID
* UTAN only allow you to search for GUIDs you already know, from a forum where your posts are private.

Also, any search that is not based on a GUID would only display the first and last part of the GUIDs found.
