Did SemiAdmin die off?

Or is it like all DarkByte's ongoing projects, "just stalled"?

Even UTPure can't keep the cheaters out.

A user/pass system is badly needed, now more than ever.

Tribes2 has an excellent way of dealing with cheaters, every user has a GUID which is linked to their CD key. When you login to Tribes2 a server, the GUID is communicated to your server from the central Tribes2 authentication server.

Obviously, this GUID has many wonderful uses, among which is the ability to ban someone permanently from your server, no matter what IP address they are using :D

UT doesnt have a GUID system, but a user/pass system would go a long way towards making life very hard for cheaters.

Well, I don't think it will be updated.. I doubt the person who made it is even checking these forums.. Either way.. Our clan is using it for their servers..

Sorry for being slow on here ... but i had a burnout a short while ago, and now i'm being overruled by real life jobs that really really slow me down on anything.

I am trying to put steps in my life instead of trying to do everything at once. When i get more free time, i will get to improve it.

Not an issue DB...

Actually do you still have 0.03 laying around? I found it worked better for TO than 0.07 did...

Yeah what Dice said.. Real life always seems to have a way to disrupt gaming (online) life.. heh.. How so Dice? Might want to tell Mallard if you would about the differences..???

Hard to explain the differences, but I did mass testing of this mutator on TO 2.0 systems for DarkByte (regardless if he wanted me to or not). I found 0.07 didn't work as well as 0.03 did.

DarkByte 7th March, 2002 07:47 PM

LoadedDice,

If you tell me there is a difference, then i'll check by you when i work on next version.

LoadedDice 8th March, 2002 12:32 AM

np DB.

Stealth111 11th March, 2002 03:38 AM

Glad to see you are taking it easy DB:) :) :)

Wes 11th March, 2002 06:47 PM

Great mod! I'm using it for all of my pub servers now. Any chance to make it menu driven? Just a wishful thinking. :D

DarkByte 12th March, 2002 01:00 AM

part of my plan is to create a client side only front-end as well as a web front-end. Just that the UTPure rushes have forced me away from it.

Rushes? Define Rushes??

LoadedDice 12th March, 2002 01:30 PM

DB having to rush and fix/patch UTPure so often. Leading to his burnout.

oh ok.. I was thinking that UTPure was interfering with SemiAdmin.. Don't know much about it.. but curious.. I would think it would be impossible just about to make a hack proof system.. But nothing can be done but to try...

Cerberus 16th March, 2002 12:40 AM

Dice, are you using the Semi Admin on your servers?

LoadedDice 16th March, 2002 01:43 PM

I had it for a long time Court. Which lead me to test it out to its fullest on TacOps. I decided to dump it since 0.07 had some issues IMHO that 0.03 didn't. But I didn't want to go back to an older version, in some vain hope that DB would continue developing it.

But if I was to reinstall it, it would be 0.03...
