Cheat or Not?
Last night we had a player in our server that everytime ANYBODY zoomed in on him and only him, the area surrounding him would go into something like a ripped texture or bug.
We have played this map many times and have never had this effect on there. We use UT pure 7G and it shows nothing up in our log. This was the only screeny we got unfortunately.

Could be some type of OpenGL or texture hack.
Not saying that it is though, I have never seen that problem. But UTPure7G if set to scan packages will notify you if they have a hack version of GL I think.

UTPure doesnt check for a hacked opengl.
Britnik was it anywhere on the map? or was he always in that place?
Ive only ever seen that as a map bug, a corrupt texture, like on Orbital near the armour.

See how the edge of that texture repeats itself ? It's a sort of infinite mirror reflection effect of which I don't know the specifics. Opengl does sometimes show that odd effect when the map hasn't been properly constructed.

And that's probably why UTIII was a relative flop. New game, same sh*thead players ^^.

LeeBe your reply... this effect was seen by every player in our ventrilo, no matter what this players location. Map was called "Braga", played hundreds of times over the years and never seen this before in this map.
^D@rk^SwaT my hubby took this screen shot just for checking this out.
he has ATI 9600xt 256 card using june edition of open gl driver. never has this effect, unless in a map known for it as a bug. in this case all those in our ventrilo had different cards, Nvidia and ATI ,not everyone was using open gl some were using d3d. But all had this effect zooming in on this player, were ever he was in the map,
PizzaMan... forgive me, but whats "HOM" stand for ?
Azura...
We are aware this is often a "bug" in maps, but as repeated several times already, we have played this map hundreds of times never seeing this effect in this map before, and it was ONLY AROUND THIS ONE PLAYER not any other player in the map! this is the reason for the question. I have played UT for 4 years and know when a bug is in the map, as it is in the same spot. this occured only next to this player no matter where he was!
do you want this as seperate topic?
Is there any ill effect running utdc1.7 and pure 7g together? we only use pure atm. but hear others run both utdc and pure.

...
btw, do you have the log from when the player joined the server?

'HOM' means 'Hall Of Mirrors'. Sometimes there are bugs in a map that lets you look into the nothingness that surrounds it, and your computer just keeps on showing the last thing that was there. But if it only happens around that player, its not likely to be a map bug. Like Leebe said, try AnthChecker.
