AKAv6k with Logging Option
Based on
AKA V2.0 Mutator - Also Known As
Written by TheCatcher - Steven Yaeger
Edited by
BLTicklemonster - up to 6000 entries.
Modified by (with permission of author)
Shawn Dube -={SDA}=-D]|[ngus - Added logging option
================================================== ==
-={SDA}=-D]|[ngus changed the class so the INI and INT are AKAv6KLog also (not AKA as in the last one) The logging option is in the INI and is called bLog. It is initially set to true but can be set to false. False supresses logging.
bLog=True/False
The initilization message (ie, "this mutator by XYZ...") is not supressed but all others are.
AKA, As Known As.....is a Loggin System that Logs Every Player that comes to your Server.
It Logs the following:
Their IP, the last time they played, and Every Name they use under that IP.
Example:
LastPlayed[2800]=12.12.12.12,2005-06-03 09:43:29,ßëþê*Çhî©,ßêþë*Çhî©,ß*® *èÇømmäñdø,ßêþë*Çh*©
LastPlayed[2801]=84.84.25.41,2005-06-03 09:32:51,**Skorpion**,MonsterKill
LastPlayed[2802]=255.255.255.255,2005-06-03 08:48:04,Mister_Pi
Its Damn Useful, and it only has ONE log!! No more sorting through thousands of logs looking for a certain player.
Easy to Convert to Excel for Database Usage.
Enjoy

Woot woot. (I hope Steve didn't mind me making that small change, I tried three times to email him from here at work, but the mail marshall didn't like the emails I was sending for some reason and stopped them all, then I forgot to try again, blah blah blah, etc.)
Good job getting the logging right on.
I've spoken to the powers that be and his wife, and she says it's okay for him to tell me it's okay to put aka on the server, so this version it will be.
Great job!

Oops, I'm about to put it on the server, and have limitted time, and see conflicting info, therefore,
AKAv6KLog.AKAv6KLog
and
AKAv6KLog.AKA
Which one, or what goes where?
Batch, serveractors=, and serverpackages=...
And surely, if running x3dfx mapvote, I make sure to put it in the list of extra mutators, too, in case anyone reading this misses that (and is running and older version like we do)

Yeah, me too.
Do you have it set as a server actor? I don't, but wonder if that might be it. (mental note to go back to see if I still have the download of the original and see if it has anything of use...) BAh, of course I don't... Time to backtrack...)
anyway, I put the long version, akav6log.akav6log in batch, and in serverpackages if anyone was wondering.
it shows it's present in the server log itself, but I don't see a seperate log in /logs or anywhere else.

It is supposed to log into its own ini file.
For those not familiar with it, the original version spammed the server.log with useless info about its own activities (moving player blabla IP array blabla). The new option bLog=True/False tells it whether or not to do this.
I have not tried this version, but I used the original one. Add as serverpackage + mutator.

OH, so the ini file fills in as the game goes along. Cool. Bingo, yeah, just check it out. Thanks again, PizzaMan!

Still not working here, even with;
Quote:
ServerActors=AKAv6KLog.AKAv6KLog
|
(Also running as Server Pack / Mut)

Added to server batch start up thingy ,AKAv6Log.AKAv6.Log
No need to add to serveractors, just serverpackages=AKAv6Log
If you're using x3dfx, did you add it to the extra mutators?
That's all I did. Then it logs in the /system/AKAv6Log.ini file,
Quote:
IPToName[0]=**.***.***.*:Oink
|
and
Quote:
LastPlayed[0]=**.***.***.*,2005-06-21 09:07:25,Oink

Its a ServerSide Mod Only.
!!! No Server Packages or Server Actors Needed !!!
In your commandline Add the Following:
AKAv6KLog.AKAv6KLog
Taken from the INT:
[Public]
Object=(Name=AKAv6KLog.AKAv6KLog,Class=Class,MetaC lass=Engine.Mutator,Description="Also Known As V6k - With Logging Option")
I got it on 6 servers, and it works perfectly for me. Logged 4000 IPs in over 6 weeks
Ohh, and if your using x3dfx mapvote or MapvoteLA12, try and put it in the command line at your Server Startup, but it can work as an Assigned Mutator Group like in x3dfx.
With the logging option, it will only log the starting info of the mod in the INI, after that...nothing logs. You should see a INI file in your system....that is where everything will go. 1 file.

Maybe you could have an option to not look at the last octet. That way IP's 123.123.123.001 and 123.123.123.002 would be logged as 123.123.123.*.
Less accurate of course, but saves some entries.

Why is the INI format being used anyway? I can see why for the LastSeen utility, but beyond this if someone wants to mass-database IPs and nicks I think a huge flag file (.log) would be a better option.
AFAIK, INI writing also uses more resources than flatfile appending.

I've done basic testing, seems to work just fine. I've actually had permission to modify already for a project of mine, so I real quick grabbed the code and edited a tick...
[ADDED]
Support for twenty-thousand (20,000) entries (should be plenty!!!)
[ADDED]
No more mutator crap. This baby can be added as a server actor
[CHANGED]
Class name back to AKA. Makes it easier, lol.
Good luck. I imagine writing 20,000 enteries will be a heavy load for a server. Try it at your own risk, lol.
If you are already using AKAv6K on your server, you can keep all your settings and old player lists. Read the readme file for info on this.
