The same techniques (or hacks?) should work in UT, except that you may need to find a good replacement for handling an amount of data chunks that is unknown at compile time.

Just a quick note.. if you are willing/able to do us a small favor by adding the characters "mvx" somewhere / anywhere into your server title .. then we will be able to find / gauge ruffly how many servers out there us MapVoteX currently.. also you may get a few interested players from a broad

also any feedback be good for those of you who are running MVX currently.

we did think about adding "mvx|servername" <pre-pended> , or "servername | mvx" <appended> to the Beta's however ... it's a bit late in the game to do so now .

Either that or post your ip's here or PM them to either myself or ProASM also appreciated.

anyways as usual any/all feedback would be appreciated.

OK.. done some testing today with the WelcomeWindows .. here are the complications or minor issues
that you may come across if you wish to persue this avenue.

due to the odd size of the MVX Window ... Images don't really work well with it .. what i mean by this is
the images are about 2/3rd's the size of the MVX Window.. also the bottom of the image holder is slightly obstructed by the button possitions at the bottom.. (cater fir this in your designs)

for example if you join our server and select comboshock.. then open the mapvote you will see what i mean.

therefore it is advised to probably not use a background (keep black and set Transparency to True)

size your images to 256x256 (max) and do not 'Stretch' as this looks really bad.

if you try using images >256 and do-not stretch them.. then they will not work.. and like I said Stretching looks bad.

unfortunately .. it is what it is.. and theres nothing I can do about this.

if you wish to use customized splash welcome pages then try the following steps;

create a new image in your image making program.. sized to 256x256 px

after you have created your image .. convert to 256 colours / indexed mode.

save the image as a .pcx file... ie MyImage.pcx

open UED and selext the texture icon at the top.

click on file > import and select the file named MyImage.pcx

in the window change the top name to the package name you wish to use ie; MyWecome

delete the middle entry..

and leave the bottom entry as MyImage

if your image is correctly sized .. then it shoukd show in the texture window after you complete the import.

goto file > save , and save as MyWelcome.utx

upload to your server and use MyWelcome.MyImage as your Welcome/Splash.

remember to add MyWelcome to your ServerPackages... (also redirect)

then start your server and test.

fir best results use a plain black BG and have sections of text/graphics..

for animated textures follow my small youtube tuyorial if you wish.

you can usually import a series of frames into image program and export the frames as .pcx (256 color/indexed) and then import all the images into a single package via UED texture browser. (import all).. once you have done this.. i rexommend about 8 - 10 frames max.. @ 256x256px. (can try smaller like 128x32px aswell.. )
you need to go into the animation properties of each frane starting at frame 1 and pointing to the next frame in sequence.. also set the Franerate to the #of the total number if franes (8-10) and point each frame to the next one.

when you get to frame (8-10) which ever is last... point it back to frame 1 (first frame in the sequence) tgis in effect will loop the animation

as i have mentioned elsewhere.. it is probably advised to use a plain black BG and place images / text in a vertical pattern.. as is the fashion of the original MVX Deault splash windows currently.

also the Startup map needs to be DM-Tutorial.unr map which stays in the Maps (folder)
also.. any other DefaultMap's need to be also in the Maps (Folder)

Still trying and only thing is that the votewindow doesnt show?
I got this in serverlog:

mutatestring=BDBmapvote votemenu=SCode=676 (dunno what this meanz)
I tried to put on fresh ut....only added the servpackage,setted the commandline,logged in as admin and did the spawnfiles...but the window doesnt appear?

You don't seem to have a MapvoteX serverpackage in your ini file ?

well..i found...i did added the serverpackage but after 5 days i saw the 's' was missing in Serverpackages.That caused it wasnt working ...

When Upgrading from MapVoteX101a to MapVoteX102a

you need to search in all MVX.ini's and replace the [class.names].. ?

or it will generate new blank one's

also it would be good to remove all [MapVoteX102a.xxxx] classes from bottom of each .ini first.

*So you only have [MapVoteX101.xxxx] classes in there..

then do a search and replace perhaps with this : NotePadX++ ie;

search for all instances of "MapVoteX101" replace with "MapVoteX102a"

also for starting off I would sugest maybe not using the DPAL.. (Dynamic Package Actor Loader) or I think in your .ini is bUseServerPackages=True?
if it is then... it should copy from existing ut.ini all copies of ServerActors and Packages to MapVoteXD.ini

in here for each GameType you need to add ServerActors / Packages..
this is broken into;

1. top_serverpackages
2. custom_serverpackages
3. bottom_serverpackages

4. top_serveractors
5. custom_serveractors
6. bottom_serverctors

so.. what happens is for the top and bottom Actors / Packages you set default mod's for all gametypes.. common mods.

then in the custom Actor/Packages section... you only put the relevant one's for your gametypes.. ie; if you use ZeroPing103 only for DM.. which is GameType DM..the custom ServerPackages DM = ZeroPing103,other mutator packages.

NOTE: if bUseServerPackages=True then edit MapVoteXD.ini for ServerPackages= and ServerActors=
if false it will use UT.ini.

*in fact there are a number of problems in your .ini which need to be resolved.

for example GameTypes and Map Folders.. for example.

@ rev... hmm sorry I was looking at allstars config.. which had errors.. can you enable debugging in mapvotex.ini and post log in pm.. or email.

Also will need to see settings.. for buseserverpackages etc..

I have some question...
It's working in offline game? (Practice Session)
If yes the answer for the first question... It's working with any trouble and I can load shit load of maps?
Just because I have now 3284 maps right now and I want to download from here: http://medor.no-ip.org/index.php?dir=Maps/ every map.
Or just only DM, CTF, AS, BT, MH Maps.
But I don't know it's works, just because if I install a lot map the Practice Session window will don't opening because there is too much map and the UT can't load it.
Because there is a limit in UT window.
Anyway I know if I have too much map I need to wait a lot time, I don't care about that.
Maybe it's possible to fix this problem? What do you think guys?

Theoretically you can have upto 30 Gametypes (Dm,Ctf,Bt,Assault, + 26 other GameTypes)
Each GameType can pre-load upto 500 Maps. Therefore if you have 1500 Dm maps then you would need 3 Dm Gametypes.. to cater for the 1500 maps . This is unfortunately how it works

Also it allows for different Mods / Settings and actors/packages for each GameType. Which allows you to have only what is needed to run (or are limited to) in your .ini
For memory i think we allowed for 20 topServerpackages , 20 customServerPackages , 20 bottomServerPackages.. i forget the exact amount.

However it should cater for prettymuch any Gametype imaginable... respect to Skins would be better to use ValAvatar.. then add as ServerPackages..

Could do with some work.
