I disagree. We need people who configure their system enviroment reasonably. Also, the skins that don't exist are not related to the garbage collection crashes. The UObject::GetPathName function is not related to paths as in file system paths.

(1) Worbo, Not everyone is computer literate and know about system environment variables. They are not programmers like you and I.

(2) Some people don't have administrative rights to alter systems.

(3) Thanks for verifying that the system crash was not caused by garbage cleanup (related to skins). Please note that I stated, "...assume..."?

I know this is a mega-bump, but do you think there's any chance of code as it was left being made accessible (under NDA if needed) for a re-compile using latest compiler and CPU options?

This was arranged for UT99, but I know and there's a big difference between that and the UT2004 code & engine.

Still...worth asking....or asking who we might be able to ask...

I'm still hitting 100% CPU on a dedicated hardware machine with full 32 player "berserk server" and wondering whether a recompile might allow the engine to use the CPU better.
