Default Odd "player gliding"

Ok, so I have attempted to research this and don't come up with much on it. It seems that client side I am seeing all players "glide" not run. Their legs don't move, they just slide around the map. Pretty annoying. Sometimes they will go into a frantic teabagging motion.

Anybody have the answer on fixing this. Only thing I cam across was something about sgtextures that didn't seem relevant.

Why should I use them ?

UT can be tweaked to obtain some increase in graphical quality. However, the textures themselves stay unaltered and may seem blurry by today's standards. The s3tc textures offer more detail and replace some of the textures to create an enhanced picture.

What are the downsides ?

There are a few downsides to using these :

You may encounter the sliding player effect on some servers where other players slide around seemingly stuck in a pose.
Use of s3tc textures affects demo recording. Basically to watch an demo recorded on a client using s3tc textures you should add the s3tc textures yourself.
Not all textures have been enhanced, so you will only see a change in maps such as DM-Codex, DM-Curse DM-Phobos and others.
perhaps^

Remove the net textures off the server. That should fix the issue. I really need to get around to editing the server packages on ut-files.com to remove them; since they cause issues.

I am talking about editing the server install package, since it comes with the net textures preinstalled. The "UT_S3TC_Server_Packages.zip" are the textures you should be running on the server. (They are the same as the CD1 textures)

ohh i see... cause i have the odd player sliding effect happening from time to time as well.. but this was generally caused by lag... i think.
those s3tc textures.. are they the same ones included in the Gotty install?

Yes, they are just the original untouched textures from the first CD.

some time ago i played with serverside demo for my server and after i start to play some demos from my server i saw the players glide not run .
so i start to investigate the problem
after some time of changing files i came to a result:

-for players skating/floating i had to change the :detail.utx file
-for player not moving you have to have the slums.utx file from server you play

hope it helps
after these changes i made i can playback all my demos nice
