(Retail) Games do not show up in Instant Action or Host Game

Having a problem with a retail install on a linux fedora core 3 box. the game runs fine and i can even play through the single player modes. When i click on host game or instant action the games (assault, onslaught, domination, etc) do not show up and it says No Information Available in the map window, where it would normally just display the map picture. I have installed thrice, from disks and from images, the images were verified by md5s generated by UltraISO and MD5SUM.

I have tried patching, and its the same problem. Im hoping its just a simple ini not configure problem or something. Also running the game from root does not help at all.
