Default Ubuntu UT Client Question

Ok, this is not a server question per se, BUT I am considering launching a Linux server and part of my research involves getting the client to work natively under Ubuntu 8.04 running the 451 patch. That said, on to my question.

After toiling with getting the game loaded and running under Ubuntu, and actually looking pretty good, I loaded my original user ini over to test my settings. Immediately I noticed that I had lost a couple of weapon binds and aliases. So, as per my normal Windoze ways, I hit the tilde key and typed "preferences" to take a look at my raw key bindings. Well, evidently that doesn't work under the Linux package, because typing "preferences" leaves you simply staring at the word, "preferences".

I decide to just edit the ini manually, and I was interested to find that the binds that didn't work all had the common attribute of using a "|" in the string. Example:
Code:
Backspace=getweapon ImpactHammer | Fire | releasejump
So, what gives? I can live without the "preferences" being available, but the example above I must get working or else I'll be forced to either run a Windoze version under Wine or go back to a dual boot with Windoze and my tail between my legs. I have searched the web for answers, and I'm too much of a Linux noob to figure this out on my own. Tickle Monster, where are ya? Thanks.

The keyboard names are a bit messed up in linux - thats why your windows keybinds no longer work. Only thing to do is go into controls options, hit a key and see what UT calls that key. You will find the a lot of keys like delete, insert etc have new names.
