Default ACE source of my lag woes

Over the last 2 or 3 months, I noticed the red disconnect flag popping up during gameplay, and my performance getting awful. I was sure it must be my ISP, and when my cable modem started rebooting over and over, I was sure of it. A tech came over and replaced my dropline and upgraded the filter. I instantly noticed a great performance increase, but the lag returned shortly thereafter. This was only affecting UT, as my ping was solid on Teamspeak, and I had clear voice communication during these lag spikes. I thought maybe it's Windows 8. Haha, nice try but still no. Last night I was playing UT with a friend of mine who is very knowledgeable about UT scripts, and all things admin. He told me to delete the ACE files out of my system folder and re-download them, as he has experienced similar issues. I did so, and did not have the issue all last night. I am going to play after this post and see if it is still okay, but I am pretty sure that is what did it. Anyway, if you have horrible lag in UT only, it is probably ACE that is the culprit

You're not exactly giving us a lot of information to work with here. First of all, the disconnect flag pops up when the client and server have more data to send back and forth than they can actually squeeze through your connection. There are a great number of possible reasons for this. ACE can be a factor in this problem but it will certainly not be the sole reason. Either way, if ACE does indeed play a role here, then the problem can certainly be solved.

To troubleshoot this problem I'd suggest the following:
1) Are you playing over a wired or wireless connection? What is your ping like on your local LAN. Try repeatedly pinging some of the other computers on your local LAN. 0.1-5ms are acceptable pings for a local LAN. Pingspikes are not acceptable and are indicative of a serious local problem.
2) On which servers does this problem occur? Which mods do these servers run and where are they located?
3) You should manually verify if your connection to these servers is working well. Collect the ips of some of the servers you're having problems with and try to ping/traceroute them during prime time (use winmtr, a free tool that's very useful for debugging connection issues). Do you see any packetloss or sudden ping spikes?
4) What does your client configuration look like? Which renderdevice are you using and what are the settings? What's your netspeed (check F6). What kind of pc are you playing on?

ace has always been a problem with crappy computers such as mine, when it came to having the first check when u came into a map. A neighboring clan i know, most of its members think that having the ace files in ur pc screws up the game, but idk if theres proof of that.

If I can run it no my servers religiously with players from poor countries with bad connections I'm talking 56k and even worse computers than Americans you guys should be fine. It's down to your configurations.
