Can't upload custom avatar

I've finally gotten a nice custom avatar that I want to use but I'm having problems uploading it.

I've saved it as a png image, gif image, and jpg image. They're all under 15KB and the image is 95width x 130height, so it is under the requirements for custom avatars. Yet, each time I try to upload it, it tells me the image must be a .jpg, .gif, or .png image. It IS one of those file types and it IS under the limit. I checked the extension to make sure it was correct and matches the file type, and in each case it is.

Any ideas why the custom avatar upload functionality isn't working?

maybe because the upload dir is write protected, I'm not because I haven't looked at it.

hmmm...

So, does that mean that only site admins can currently use the custom avatar functionality or does that mean that you're looking into why it isn't working?

if the directory permissions are wrong nobody can set a new custom avatar (unless ofcourse you use an offsite avatar)

That makes sense. So, can this be fixed so we can have the custom avatar functionality working again?

I've fixed the remote file uploading, so point to a webpage where you have your avatar stored

Thanks a bunch. As you can tell, I was able to get the avatar upload to work.
