This is a forum, not a chat room You cannot expect instant replies so don't bump the thread within a space of minutes :-?

What exactly is the problem you're having? Are no servers displaying, or is there an error message?

Were you using the ZeroPing2 mutator? If so, you will have to use the ZPPure that comes with UTPure7G.

Does 7G work with a UT server running on Linux? Thanks.

Default erm

Sorry I posted this in another thread

Hi

I logged into a Truff server last night running the new pure 7G
I use linux as my OS and seem to be having major problems.
Missing hud and then a weird double firing sequence on InstaGib.
You fire off one shot, then it fires another one up to about 3 secs later on its own.
It wont let you shoot again until this second "auto" one has been fired.
It also feels really really really laggy although *ping* is fine.
I logged into a server still using a previous Pure and it was fine
Anyone else had this problem please?

We have put the new pure7G on our ZPserver, but we don't have any Instagib guns showing does someone know why or what we need to change for the gun to show? Thanks in advance.

i think pure is over rated and NBSP should be used a lot more - perhaps in conduction with UTDC if necessary. An update to NBSP should really be released if possible just to match the pure functions although it is already many people's preference. NBSP has done me fine though throughout the time i have been using it and with no entry lag unlike pure...

pure is definately over rated either way. there are people who have clan matches from ClanBase and they demand pure is on the server because of the rules... when NBSP does practically the same job.

Quote:
All matches should be played on UTPure servers if possible, preferably ones that run the latest stable version. Also servers that have the abilty to pause are favoured.
i would like to point out the "if possible" part...

i think pure updates are unnecessary, unless the update is to remove the lag it produces, then perhaps i may decide to use it once again...

UTPure7G has significantly reduced and lag or resources it takes up. I like NSP and I totally agree with the project "philosophy" - good anticheat without the expense of playability or use of other mods.

But, it is not updated as often as Pure7G. You state that it "practicaly does the same job". Pure7G does more than a good job and is updated frequently. Entry lag, is what; a few seconds? A mere expense for what it protects against. Do you realise what Pure7G disables, and what NBSP disables? If you did you'd see Pure7G was more than worth the few seconds of lag on joining a server :?.

Also to go back the rule you quoted from Clanbase, UTPure has had a much more regular and always-there history in comparison to NBSP; albeit NBSP is still young.

NBSP does has some extra features UTPure does not... so why not use them together? That is one of the main points of the NBSP project; compatability with as many other modifications as possible.

its not overrated, its highly undervalued, you dont know what Pure does so how can you say its overrated? I wont pretend to know everything Pure does, but the bits I do know make it very valuable

I think bLongDistance is in 7H - but I dont know when the testing is finished.

Lag what lag? are u talking about when you join it takes a 2 sec for your hud to popup...? 2 secs? ooooh big deal... I would rather play with that then cheaters.. NBSP does do some things it would be nice to see in pure.... but pure doesn't give half as many false positives... and it truly does stop cheats if its not hacked... same is true with NBSP... once its hacked its useless.. that why your sppost to use UTDC which can do md5 checks...

There are tons of bytehacked utpures available publicly. I haven't seen one public bytehacked NBSP as of yet.

P.S: With UTDC's md5 checking, admins now have the necessary functionality that QV added to avoid uscript hacking.

Fearless, what are you running on your server? From what I see, everyone agrees that nbsp should be used with pure or utdc, but the question seems to be which to use, utdc or pure.

I'd like as minimal hassle as possible, and knowing that utdc and nbsp run in tandem is a solid team, I'm leaning towards that; but pure is daunting for an old country hick like me, and I'm seeing some questions asked about pure that directly relate to Zark, and no answers.

Well, I'd prefer nbsp + utdc, even if nbsp is missing a few useful non-anticheat features such as tick rate compensation and advanced teamsay. However, some competition sites insist on having UTPure so there is no choice.

You could put both Pure and NBSP on but then you'd use up unnecessary cpu cycles as some checks end up being redundant (both mods checking the same thing). NBSP is made to be compatible with the most mods possible though so I guess you could do this. This compatibility is one of the big reasons why I prefer NBSP as it supports Rocket Arena. Two big advantages that Pure does have is the integrated ZP and Valhalla support.

P.S: Now that md5 checking has been implemented, you needn't worry about any uscript hacks as long as UTDC holds it's own.

That is because they have worked around it and have no need to hack it.

Are you sure of this ? I don't see what extras UTPure would have since both are uscript based.
