Advanced Chat Log System v220
For Linux & Windows Dedicated Servers

(Successor To The Popular "Win/Lin Server Chat Logger")

» Download Here! « (http://www.unrealadmin.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=1125&d=1155098379)

What's new in 2.20:
Optionally acts as a messaging spectator to log messages from mods such as CSHP, Pure, and EUT.

Automatic IP detection which attempts to find your server's IP address and uses it in the logs. In HTML mode, this is also used to create a link that can be clicked to take you to the server the log was recorded on.

Bugfixes. I'm not perfect :P There were a few bugs... hopefully now there aren't :)

-------------------------
Advanced Chat Log System
Created By MSuLL
-------------------------

This is a new mod I created for UT servers that allows
for in-game chat to be logged to external log files.
Unlike WebChatLogger, this logger works on BOTH Windows
and Linux UT servers. It can log to raw .log files, OR it
can also create web pages for easy viewing.

This logger will write:
Player Joins (and their IP address)
Player Name Changes (old and new names for tracking)
Say Chat (regular messages by players)
TeamSay Chat (messages to other team mates)
System Chat (messages to players generated by the server)
Localized Messages (special messages like death / team switch messages)
Messaging Spectator (special messages from mods like Pure, CSHP, and others)

It uses no native code or anything amazingly fancy. It can log to any directory you specify, relative to your System directory.

This can log to both the server's log file, as well as the external logs.

Log filenames, by default, will look like this:
[ChatLog].2005.07.31.15.57.57.CTF-Contact.log

There are many options on naming these log files, see the readme on how to do all this. However the front tag ([ChatLog]) can be changed to whatever you like, or even removed. The server name can be added to the filename, or the map name can be removed.

Log Examples:
Plain Text (http://msull.wharthog.com/files/Text_Example_Log.txt)
HTML Mode (http://msull.wharthog.com/files/HTML_Example_Log.htm)

Enjoy everyone!
- MSuLL

One tiny little error :p
In the readme it says you need to add the serveractor= under the [engine.engine] section however this should be [Engine.GameEngine] section :)

Matthew

Crap. I should probably change it for all the ppl that won't realize that, lol.

To people that have their own downloads databases (AntiCheat.co.uk, UKS, etc), please add the file below if you are going to add Lin/Win to your database. This file simply contains the [Engine.GameEngine] readme typo fix.

http://files.atomicunreal.com/mutators/Lin-WinChatLogger-V100.zip

However if you are downloading to use on your server, please use the link in the first post so I can get an accurate idea of how many people are actually using it ;)

we are getting a few accessed nones with this Matthew -

ScriptWarning: ChatLogger CTF-EternalCave2.ChatLogger0 (Function Engine.PlayerPawn.ClientVoiceMessage:002C) Accessed None

they all look like that for each map, some 2000 lines after a few maps.
no big deal, but dont know if you want to fix it up.

and thx :)

Can't wait, am totally new to linux and would be cool to have something easy to install and run. I only just realised trying to look through the ucc.log file that none of the chat is saved... I had some players on tonight that I would like to have saved what they said in order to translate it to english. :D

Will hold out for the new version.

This one is for all those Linux server admins that hate their chat loggers :D

What, another one? :P

Great mod, but I'm getting MBCS (Unicode) output to the (dedicated) log file.

Is the any way to make ASCII the default? Am I missing something?

Matthew
24th December, 2005, 03:42 PM
No - sadly. Due to restrictions inside UT's engine, only unicode is possible, I believe.

I'm not going to work on this series version of Lin/Win anymore. The next version will be 2.0 - and I plan some major additions to it. If you have any suggestions please post them.

I still need to work on the ASC 7.50, so it might be a while...

Could you add IP's to your list. I know there alot of other things out there that track IP's but having just one file to look at would be cool.

Could you also make read settings on UT.ini instead of a custom one? It would give admins less work for those who use Clanforge.

Matthew
23rd April, 2006, 07:05 PM
I'm going to use the OPBan method of settings stores so that if needed, an admin can use an external INI or the server's.

Neophyte
24th April, 2006, 12:52 AM
Hi Mathew, really like the mod, just need it running from UnrealTournament.ini and ip logging as well and it would be perfect :)

Custom inis are really bad, why people release mutators running them is beyond me, as it makes running multiple servers a pain in the arse.

cant wait for version 2 :)

If you decide to make another version ( :D ), could it write the server name and IP at the beginning of each map? Sometimes I have problems figuring out which server the log file is taken from. I usually look at the IRC reporter log to do that.

Matthew

It already does write the server name...

As for the IP - yeah I could put that in fairly easily.

PizzaMan

I mean in the server.log.

Any other thoughts for additions while we are here? :)

PizzaMan
8th July, 2006, 09:13 PM
Cant think of any additions right now, but there is one thing -

The map DM-1on1-MokumX (http://www.snipermayhem.com/downloads/maps/DM-1on1/dm-1on1-mokumx.zip) have jump pads that causes this:

ScriptLog: [ChatLog][2006-07-08 17:40][System]:
ScriptLog: [ChatLog][2006-07-08 17:40][System]:
ScriptLog: [ChatLog][2006-07-08 17:40][System]:
ScriptLog: [ChatLog][2006-07-08 17:40][System]:
ScriptLog: [ChatLog][2006-07-08 17:40][System]: Hawaii Is A HeadHunter!!!!
ScriptLog: [ChatLog][2006-07-08 17:40][System]:
ScriptLog: [ChatLog][2006-07-08 17:41][System]:

Every time you use the pads, there is an empty line in the log. I think the old chatlog wrote 'critical event' there.

Can you make it not write empty lines like that? There are hundreds of them each time we play that map.

Matthew
9th July, 2006, 12:39 AM
Yeah will do.

2399Skillz
10th July, 2006, 07:17 AM
Think you can get it to do directories for the dates?

For example, all logs on the month of Janurary will fall in ../01, that is then divided by dates with subdirectories, so a log on Janurary the 25th would be

../01/25/[ChatLog].2006.07.05.05.10.00.JB-Baras.htm

That would make organizination a heck of a lot easier.

Matthew
10th July, 2006, 01:18 PM
No. Creation of directories would require native code, which goes back to the reason I created this thing in the first place.

Hmm, I'm not sure if you are familar with BDB's chat logger.

Here is an example of what it logs, http://www.planetunreal.com/BDBUnreal/ChatLog22Example.htm

Think you can get similar results, specifically the score board? I also noticed, that unless a player talks, nothing else is logged. Yet, when I player does talk, it then logs everything IE player joins, exits, ect.. Even if localized is set to true, it only logs this http://www.skillzservers.com/logs/%5BChatLog%5D.2006.07.17.09.33.52.JB-Deck32-III.htm

Matthew
17th July, 2006, 04:25 PM
To be honest I don't really see any difference beside the scoreboard.

As for nothing being logged, that's most likely a bug - thanks for pointing it out.

2399Skillz
17th July, 2006, 05:18 PM
Yea, I believe it is a bug as well. The very next map logged this: http://www.skillzservers.com/logs/%5BChatLog%5D.2006.07.17.09.46.28.JB-Arena256.htm

Which shows everything, including me entering the game, leaving the game, and the bots completeing the game.

That log looks more like the BDB log, so you are correct it's not different other than the score board, which would be nice. Just make sure it works with Jailbreak! :)

PizzaMan
2nd August, 2006, 07:14 PM
Matthew,

would it be possible to have an option to record the output from the IRC reporter? Not to the server.log of course, only to the external log file. Would be useful in terms of documenting everything that happens during one map.

Also PM'ed you a log that shows empty events every time someone gets fragged.

Matthew
2nd August, 2006, 09:49 PM
I don't use an IRC reporter so you'll have to tell me what all it can log that this doesn't.

PizzaMan
2nd August, 2006, 10:14 PM
The reporter picks up things like EUT logs, if EUT is set to broadcast those:

[EUT_1G.EUTTeamGamePlus]
bReport=True

If the logger could pick up that stuff and other things like UPPure and AnthChecker logging, the chatlog could serve as documentation for each played map.

Matthew. Is it possible to use Chatlogger for specific messages going on in a screen like SSH (live output) and log specific things? Like log kicks only?

If u can pm me, the module should only watch specific things like "UTDprotect kick $nick".

Just installed MapVoteLA13 on the server. Now ACLS2.2 stops logging as soon as the first player joins. It thinks the map has finished.... Is this a known bug?

I've already tried loading the serveractor AFTER mapvote, didn't change anything.

Check times:

Chat Logging Started At 2007.05.14.20.20.53
----------------------------------
[2007-05-14 20:20][System]: 1 entered the game.
[2007-05-14 20:20][Join] (1): xxx.xxx.xxx.x
----------------------------------
Chat Logging Finished At 2007.05.14.20.20.56

Edit: removed MapVoteLA13 and it's still broken.. I must have fucked something?
Edit2: it does function normally when I set it to output to the serverlog... What's going on here? (note: output in external logs is still broken)

UPDATE: I completely re-installed the server. All works fine now... Very, very strange.

In the chatlog, it doesn't say anything when someone joins. However, in the server log it looks like this when someone joins.

I'm wondering if ASC might be conflicting with it?

I used the two (ASC and ACLS) together for years without problems. ACLS watches for the value of Level.Game.EnteredMessage to see when a player arrives (ie. "MSuLL entered the game" - it sees "entered the game" and looks for everything before it). Most likely you have a mutator or something causing the join message to be modified in some way... maybe post your mutators list? To be honest I found another small bug I think just a sec ago looking at my source, so maybe a minor update is in order...

Just installed MapVoteLA13 on the server. Now ACLS2.2 stops logging as soon as the first player joins. It thinks the map has finished.... Is this a known bug?

I've already tried loading the serveractor AFTER mapvote, didn't change anything.

Check times:

Edit: removed MapVoteLA13 and it's still broken.. I must have fucked something?
Edit2: it does function normally when I set it to output to the serverlog... What's going on here? (note: output in external logs is still broken)

having the exact same problem on 2 servers, not worth the trouble to reinstall the server....

havent really tried disabling them one by one yet to narrow down the cause, because all of these actors/packages i would really like to keep on the server. but i assume this chatlog works fine alongside nexgen? because that is the newest tool i have installed.

ACLS isn't even on your list... ^^

But yeah ACLS and Nexgen work just fine together.

Try putting ACLS2.2 in the LAST spot under the server packages.
Many times the ORDER of the server packages list can be a problem.
I had to re-arrange mine because one mutator package was altering another's properties because of the order of their listing and loading.
