View Full Version : ServerSide Demo Won't Play (UTDC Check)

Ya they won't work at all because of utdc 1.8's check when people join the map. I heard there was some fix made by this anthrax guy, but that didn't seem to work, and I tried movie demo manager, and that didn't work. This is the error message I receive:

I tried that as well. Seems like whatever code the anthrax guy had to kill the utdc and which azura merged with demo movie manager isn't effective :\

Ya like I suppose it is a little old, was probably originally for 1.7 utdc. But I don't even see an "option" to destroy anything :o

The "option" is automatic. What the Anthrax version does is intercept the UTDC actor before it has time to crash a demo. For it to work, you need to modify your ini so UT uses demo manager's demo engine instead of the standard one. This is explained in the Demo Manager 3 readme.

Hmm, please paste a copy of the log you get when the demo crashes. Maybe the name of the actor has changed.

Edit : And here's something to try. When viewing such a demo, see if there's a difference when you watch the demo in first person view and thirdperson view.

Its impossible to watch a Server demo in first person view as 3rd person mode is checked always. I'll post the log. I think you're right about it identifying the wrong actor name.

I remember posting this :
* "UTDCKebab" error still occuring in third person. This also occurs in serverside demos.

I don't know if I tested this, but maybe you can get round the problem by launching a demo, quickly switching players and then going into behindview 0 (until you're past the initial check).

Well it happens when i'm in ghost mode.. and the game hasn't started yet. People are just leaving and joining etc. Don't know if I can switch views during that time.

Btw I have this recent demo I was just trying to play in 3rd person spec. Its a client side demo though. Well heres the results from all 3 udemos:

Orginal 3.0 beta - I couldn't view any other view but ghost camera and my own, but my own would freeze a lot. No scoreboard and not sure but seemed like a lot of people weren't showing up

Movie Demo Manager - Same results as above.. Except I can view other peoples views and they work. Stll no scoreboard. And my view still freezes/skips

Azura's Movie Manager 1.1 - Still freezing/skipping within my own view. I can still view other peoples views. Only difference is scoreboard works and chatwindow I think too.

Anyone know why I can't view my own view in 3rd person withotu any lag or frame freezing. It'd actually freeze like a slideshow ;(

You can upload this demo too. Do you know what cheat protection was on the server where it was recorded at ? UTPureRC7G/EUT/Other ? Also, what renderer are you using ?

The missing F1 scoreboard is something to do with UTPure. Anthrax found a way to fix it.

it is definitely up. Its a pug server I just checked. You could be banned maybe I don't know I could check ip against ban list.

Also if you use demo manager it shows all the system files you need. And yeah those are utpure, eut and utdc18 files. I can zip them all up and send if you still can't enter the server.

Correct. :o I don't know its exact location but its a pug chan for irc.gameradius.org in #zpctf I'm in there too btw. This other demo I'm uploading now also took place there.

This error should be fixed now. Get a copy of the v3.2 beta at http://utgl.unrealadmin.org/udemo/udemo32/

Make a backup of your original demomanager files because this one includes a lot of changes to the dll file

Hi,

I saw in the readme that the code that handles the actor killing is now in the dll. Is there some substantial code that would need adding to movie demo manager ? I'm asking because I don't really have time right now to have a look.

Also, what do you think of the idea of replacing the original demorecording engine with a rewritten one ? Good or bad idea ?
