Hi,

i have started a Linux Dedicated Server @<hidden> Version 2199.

If I and my Friends join our Ping ist 20ms.
I think this is too high.

I changed Ticket and Clientrate, but best i get ist 20ms.

Can someone say what to do, do get better pings, because in other games i get besser pings with the same mashine and same Linux dedicated.

Must I add specific params @<hidden> Serverstart??
or Change something in UT2k3 for better Ping.

Pls show me your iniĀ“s and startparameter.

THX

The PING reported 'IN GAME' is differant than browser ping.

The browser just bounces a packet off the server.

The 'in game' ping includes 'travel time' to the server, processing time on the server (your shot hit what? something like that), travel time back from server, then your (client) processing time!

So congestion lags and the number of players of the server -vs- CPU power and the 'OS handling of packets all add up.

Side note, I mention 'OS handling as UT2 has -2- sockets for each player and the OS has alot more work to do as well as stealing CPU time to pick up and work out each one.
..as opposed to, say the Quake family of servers, using one port for all players.

Alot more overhead happening than is appearant.
