Unhappy Portswap?????

This is my first game server and I had it running pretty good (to my surprise!)
Now I am getting the Portswap detected error that is crashing my server...I have read as many posts as I could find and I know if you change the
Portswap setting in the .ini file to False it will no longer crash...The problem now is I can't connect to my server...it is listed as N/A....Now what?

PLEASE HELP ME!

Stop your server. Look for OldQueryPortNumber in your servers INI file and make sure it reads:
Code:
OldQueryPortNumber=
Then start your server again.

Thanks for the quick response Naked_Ape!
That did fix the problem of crashing the server.
It now loads with no errors, however it still comes
up as N/A online. I looked at the .ini file again and
the OldQueryPortNumber=10 even though I made it blank
anymore suggestions?

It is normal for OldQueryPortNumber to be set after you run your server. Clearing it out simply lets the server rewrite the correct value based on the current game port. That value should be your gameport number plus 10, so for a default configuration it will be 7777 + 10 = 7787. So if it is set to 10 there is something wrong. What port have you configured the server to use (Port= under [url])?

It seems you've given a bad port number (0?) and that is why it shows as N/A. It should be noted that the OldQueryPortNumber does not have anything to do with the listing in the in-game browser. It only concerns the GameSpy query protocol. The ingame browser uses information collected on the native query protocol which runs on 7778 (gameport + 1).

There are other reasons why a server may appear as N/A, search these forums or INA for more info, but I'm guessing that your problem is a simple configuration mistake.

Thanks again but its still not working...
Port=7777 (under URL)
when I start the server it says:
UdpServerQuery<crt>: Port 10 Succesfully Bound
UpdGamespyUplink : Port 11 succesfully bound.
Still changing my .ini file to port 10
This is getting frustrating because up until yeserday
everything was working fine. My ISP was having service interupt problems
so I shut the machine down and when I rebooted (after ISP fixed whatever problem they were having) This problem started....I never changed my INI file so I have no idea what the problem could be...I think I may have to start over
which will suck balls since I was lucky to get it going in the first place.

Then I'm not sure what could be the cause of this. I would double check the INI. If you find nothing awry, make a backup of your INI and start again with a fresh file. Just a plain standard server with no additions. See if it works. If not, reinstall the server. If it does, compare your backup to the new INI and transfer settings one at a time until it A) breaks or B) runs as expected.

Use the HOWTOs and tutorials on this site as a guide. Most problems can be solved with these tutorials and the forum search function.

If you still can't work it out, post your INI (or better a link to it).

Well Believe it or not its fixed....I removed the .INI file out to the desktop...I was going to compare it to the .INI I have on my other pc to see if something was screwed up. Anyhow, I thought...Well let me start the server and see if it will make a new .INI file.
It did! and since I use UT2Vote all my mutators and maps are still loading. I still don't know what the original problem was, so I guess its not truely fixed...

Thanks very much for your input I would not have gotten far on my own

Thumbs up Thank you

Just wanted to say thank you. Was toying around with some settings and all of the sudden the server would not start with portswap seeming to cause a loop of some sort. Removed the port number from OldQueryPortNumber=7787 and everything is back to normal.
