UT for Mac
Hi,
I'm looking for the original UT (GOTY) for Mac version because now i use UT with a patch to OS X but i don't have music and i'm just a little slower than the other guys.
Where i live in the Netherland i can't find anything.
I run a Demo version in OS 9 and it was a big speed difference, i think it's because with UT OS 9 i can select rave driver instead of openGL.
Can anybody help me with the mac version?

With the OS X version your pretty much s.o.l. with the music and opengl mode. Don't let the demo version fool you, it does run much faster than the full game, I've tried this. Although Rave would run a bit better than OpenGL its still not that different in performance. If you can bear with OS 9, then ditch the OS X patch, but if you want to use OS X as default your gonna have to get used to the buggy beta patch that it is.
To make opengl run better do this:
-Turn off fractal animation
-Turn off dynamic lighting
-Turn off coronas
-Turn off decals
-and turn off volumetric lighting
The OpenGL support for UT in both os x and 9 is buggy, slow, and doesn't run well on any mac. (I've got a dual G5 with a Radeon 9800 Pro and UT2k4 runs better than UT in most cases....)

The problem is that i don't have a original UT Mac version so i don't have a OS 9 version
I bought one for windows and put the installed files on my mac with the OSX patch on it and that worked.
But i can not find a original Mac UT version anywhere.
I also seen ut 2004 for mac and its great, but i have my own ut sniper clan so i can't switch that easly

You should be able to download one from a p2p network .. It's not your fault that it's no longer in the shops.

I got a full UTGY 99 copy working great for me, I was in shock that it worked so well, seems the package is running on cider but performs great.
Last time I played this game, I was on PC and about 7 years ago, glad I found this for mac... works good brings back old memories thats for sure
