Default Teleporter Fix

Description:
This package provides a fix for servers that are hosting maps with teleporters. The default teleporters provided by the Unreal Engine suffer from a nasty bug that could cause a server to crash on collision checks. The most common crash found in the logs begins with 'Critical: FCollisionHash::ActorLineCheck', but several other variants can also be found. This package fixes the issue by replacing the default teleporters with a custom version that prevents this bug from occurring. Credit should go to Casy Campbell who came up with the idea for the workaround implemented in this package.

All UT99 servers suffer from this bug, but it is seen particularly often in "flying" mods such as StrangeLove and RocketX. It is recommended that all UT99 servers add this fix as soon as possible.

I'm a little surprised to be the first to reply to this thread, being it's 12 months old already.

I just started needing this MOD when trying to ressurrect MonsterMadness.

For some reason, the combination of that and SLV202 really makes the server experience this problem [hash crash] frequently.

The mod fixes the problem. Nice Job!

One question though... I have a lot of "ScriptLog" entries in the log where TeleporterFix is reporting each teleporter it's replacing, every time the map rolls.
  • Is there an ini section and setting I could use to suppress this?

I don't want to suppress ALL ScriptLog output though, because there are other reports that use it which I do need. So something specific to TeleporterFix would really be great.

Ok Matt.... here's some feedback.

Version 103 works. I do think it eliminates some problems over V100. However, on our server, it defeats the player rotation after teleporting that's specified in the teleporter property. In other words, the orientation is always the same before and after teleporting, rather than they way the original works.[and version 1.00]

Is my understanding correct?

  • Would it be possible to get a version that's got the other fixes, but not the "Player Rotation" "fix" introduced in V101?
  • Or an INI section setting allowing us to turn off that fix?

We've gone back to V100... this is a pretty critical item for some maps.

But... we're planning to KEEP it regardless of the extra clutter in the LOGs because it's GREAT otherwise.

I've been told twice recently about a bug that allows you to teleport through almost any wall you want on any server without using a cheat or anything...almost as in fly command.

Does that mod fix this bug too?

I'll create an updated version that also includes the proper player rotation after teleporting. Not sure when I have the time to do so. I'll post the updated version here once it's finished.

I remember now why I don't use this fix. Seems it doesn't work with swJumpPad if I'm not mistaken.
