[Release] ServerCrashFix v1.0
ServerCrashFix is a mod that will protect your server against servercrash/DoS
exploits that were released after the latest UTPG patch (v451).
In particular it will protect you against these exploits:
* Malformed String Exploits
* Fake Player DoS
* Malformed Join Request DoS
Whenever a player attempts to crash the server, ServerCrashFix will temporarily
blacklist the player's ip so all further requests from that IP will be ignored
until the end of the map.
ServerCrashFix replaces the earlier patches implemented in AnthChecker v1.38.
When ServerCrashFix is installed on a server with AC v1.38, it will disable AC's
patches and use it's own.
ServerCrashFix works on both Linux servers and Windows servers although some
Linux admins might have to update their server's Core.so file with the one
included in the LinuxFix folder of this package.

I tried this on one of my Linux based servers and my server wouldn't travel to the next map. Guess it would crash and come back to the default map. I don't have logs yet but as soon as I disabled it changing maps went back to normal.
When I have a chance I'll try and figure out what went wrong.
*PS The server is v451 not v436 which your Core.so patch is.

Most likely it was a mutator conflict or package arrangement issue. And I know now that the Core.so patch for v436 servers not v451.

I thought I'd give this another try since I have a home linux server and get this issue no matter what Core.so I use.

most of the segmentation faults in UT are caused by operations on long strings. An update of the kernel and libc usually solves the problem.

I just find it odd that your server crash fix won't work on any of my servers whether they are Linux or Windows based. Some times the servers do boot but soon as you want the map to change the error happens which crashes the server and boots back to the default map.
I have two GameServers UT99 servers which are Linux and same error as I have on my home Linux server. I've even tried it by its self with no mods and your Core.so fix and I get same error.
My home server kernel/libc are all up to date and currently using Ubuntu desktop 8.04.
I guess I should not worry about this server crash fix but just wonder why nobody else has an issue except me or they didn't care to post about it.

I'm surprised that it doesn't work for you. I have personally tested it on Ubuntu 5.10, 8.10, Debian etch, Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 2000 Server. I've never had problems. It also runs on all tammy public servers (which are also windows 2000 based). Have you ruled out compatibility issues with other mods?

I tell you what I'll get you access to one of my servers I have with www.gameservers.com cause they are all the same from what I know. I'll PM you the details and see if you can figure it out. If you have the time of course and would be much appreciated.

schlong.. one day while playing with the server i tried to enable th antci net hack via AC but after each map change the server would crash and reboot. I thought it was weird. Ill test this mod on my windows 03 server. hopefully it auto disables AC

Wasn't aware that AC had an anti-net-hack or are you talking about ~V~'s post here http://www.unrealadmin.org/forums/sh...ad.php?t=20346
Anyway just thought that Anthrax's server crash fix would be nice for us since we use AC and it was explained here that there were some exploits which could be fixed using this.

nope it has it. our server has corruption somewhere. I really think you should let ME rebuild the server.
